Modern Area Rugs

Area Rugs Curated for Modern Interiors

The area rug is often the first decision in a room and the one everything else responds to. Scale, texture, and pattern all affect how furniture reads and how the space feels underfoot. Getting it right matters.

This upscale area rug collection is sourced from the same perspective brought to every interior design project: with the full composition in mind. You'll find luxury area rugs in handmade natural fibers and wool alongside machine-woven options, all in the neutral, organic tones that work in warm, layered interiors.

Wool, Handmade, and Neutral Area Rugs

Wool area rugs and handmade constructions bring quality to your space. The texture reads differently, the pile responds to light in a more interesting way, and the construction holds up over time. For rooms where the rug carries the most visual weight, wool area carpets and handmade natural fiber options are worth the investment.

Neutral Area Rugs

Neutral area rugs are the most consistently specified in residential interior design. A tone-on-tone ribbed rug in cream reads quietly under a linen sofa. A solid low-pile in feather grey grounds a seating area without drawing attention to itself. These are the rugs that let the rest of the room lead.

Graphic and Patterned Options

Not every room calls for a quiet rug. Moroccan-inspired diamond patterns, modern arc graphics, and vintage Persian-inspired flatweaves all bring a stronger visual presence without tipping into trend-driven territory. These work particularly well where the furniture is intentionally restrained.

Large Area Rugs for Living Rooms and Bedrooms

Large area rugs from 8x10, 9x12, and above are the most impactful purchase in this category and the one most often sized incorrectly. In interior design projects, sizing is determined by the full furniture plan, not the rug alone. The rug should feel generous relative to the space, not cautious. A large lounge rug that's undersized reads as an accent piece rather than a foundation.

Area rugs for living rooms need to work at scale, carry visual weight, and hold up under regular use. Bedroom rugs operate differently. They're felt underfoot first thing in the morning and seen from above, so texture and softness matter as much as pattern. Both are well-represented here,

If you're selecting an area rug as part of a full room design, working with an interior designer ensures the rug anchors the space rather than fights it.
